Authors Win at 42nd NAACP Image Awards

by Notorious Spinks on 03.06.2011

On Friday, NAACP held it’s 42nd Image Awards in Los Angeles at The Shrine Auditorium.

The Image Award is a black-tie event held every year to highlight the accomplishments of people of color in television, recording, literature, motion picture and writing and directing.

I was uberexited about the literature portion of the awards.

Why???

Only because Mrs. Carleen Brice was in the house.

In the category, Outstanding Television Movie, Mini-Series or Dramatic Special, Sins of the Mother brought it home.

If you don’t know by now, Sins of the Mother is a made for television movie based on the book Orange Mint & Honey written by Carleen Brice.  The last I heard, Sins of the Mother was the second most watched movie in Lifetime Movie Network history.

The stars of the movie are Nicole Beharie and Jill Scott, who also won Outstanding Actress in a Television Movie, Mini-Series, or Dramatic Special.

Congrats to Carleen and Jill on your success!

Sins of the Mother is scheduled to air Sunday, April 10 at 7pm.  Maybe Lifetime will show it sooner as a result of it being on the radar again.    Here’s the trailer.

If you haven’t read Orange Mint and Honey then you can check out the review I wrote here.
