First Lines Friday (Giveaway)

by Notorious Spinks on 09.16.2011

Hi Spinkys!  I’ve been M.I.A. lately.  I’ve been working to collect my feelings  since my mom passed.  I really appreciate all the support and messages from you all.  They really helped.  Now it is time that I get my mojo back so here’s my First Lines Friday along with a giveaway.  For more information about the book just see my post here, Pretty by Jillian Lauren.  The author is also running some giveaways so stop by the post and get more information.

First Lines Friday is a bookish meme hosted by Literary Marie of Precision Reviews. I encourage all of my fellow book bloggers and bookhearts to play along.

  • Grab your current read.
  • Share the first line(s).
  • Include the title and author so that other FLF participants can add the book to their TBR Lists.

My mom used to say to me, ” Pretty is as pretty does.”

She’s like the fucking cliche almanac, my mom.  But she was pretty, too.  Prettier than me even because she wasn’t as tall and broad in the shoulders as I am.  I watched her and decided that it wasn’t true.  Pretty isn’t what what pretty does.  Pretty just is.  Pretty is pretty and it can get you a few things.  And it doesn’t last long so whatever the hell you can get with it while you have it, go ahead and get it.

‘Nuff said.  LOL!

I just wanted to leave my condolences. I just found your blog today and thought it was really interesting and fun. But wanted to make sure to say a prayer for healing and peace for you and your family.

Blessings.

Sadly the way I have been handling grief is to shut myself away from any and everybody. I say sadly because my support system wants to help but it makes me feel extra sad.
